Resting for a couple weeks

I have this. Plantar fascitis. I've been googling and talking to fellow walkers with it and more googling...
I will be doing the stretches, icing and resting my left foot for a week or so.
I jokingly told my DD it's her fault. I've had issues with my left foot ever since being pregnant with her. She had all her baby weight on my left side when I carried her and my left foot would often go numb. I could always tell afterwards if I was starting to put on too much weight, my left foot would start to be sore and go numb.
But this? Probably too many miles on last year's shoes. I wanted to wait until my clinic on May 15th to get new shoes, and I may have hurt my foot with worn out shoes.
Any other ideas on what I can do, please let me know.
Thanks!

  1. I use a spiny rubber ball to roll my foot on. Gets the blood circulating and helps stretch out that tightened muscle. Typically wearing the same shoes over and over and over (like every day for a month or more) is what makes the tendon shorten. Once it gets better and you can start trainning again, keep doing the stretches.

  2. Maybe I will find one for you this weekend. Just don't let the dog get after it.

  3. I've been using a golf ball. Not as sore today.

  4. YAY!!! Also try to alternate the shoes you wear to work. (Don't wear the same pair 5 days a week.)

  5. I had this and wearing high wedge clogs so I walked on the balls of my feet helped rest the tendons so they could repair them self and never walk bare footed ever!!
