Getting Started Meeting
Today I attended my local Getting Started Meeting for the 3 Day. At this meeting we get to learn more about the Susan G Komen 3 Day, where the funds go and more information on the actual 3 Day event.
In fiscal year 2009, Komen made grants to more than 1,900 community organizations totaling more than $93 million. Those dollars funded grants allowing:
More than 3.9 million people to receive breast cancer education materials and information
More than 260,000 women to receive a potentially life-saving mammogram
Approximately 5,000 people to be diagnosed with breast cancer who otherwise may not have been diagnosed
More than 100,000 women to benefit from psychosocial services and treatment assistance
Virtually every major advance in the fight against breast cancer in the last 28 years has been impacted by a Susan G. Komen for the Cure grant.
So the funds we have to raise are really going to good use. Please remember to donate to us!
After the meeting, Vanessa from the Coconut Strutters lead us on a 5 mile
training walk. Thanks Vanessa! I think those hills today will be a good preview for what we'll see in SanFrancisco.

SO glad you made it out today! Maybe you should plan a few walks up the dunes this summer to prepare for SanFran!
ReplyDeleteMy rearend and hips are sore today! I will definitely have to do some hill training this summer.
ReplyDeleteI have already scoped out my place for hill training. I may even have to walk Doomsday Hill a few extra times too.
ReplyDeleteI wish I had a Doomsday Hill to train on. I told the girls Saturday about the vulture up on top of Doomsday Hill during Bloomsday. LOL
ReplyDeleteI will have to get a picture of him for a future post.
