2 Miles pffffttt!

I was feeling antsy today so I went for a training walk, 2 miles later my face was frostbit but I felt wonderful! Walking 60 miles in 3 days takes a lot of training. Lots. Especially if you hope to make the 3 days without blisters. (which I did last year, yay!) And that training has to start somewhere, so I did 2 miles today. Some of you may wonder why? Why start with short walks? Cause I said so! (Ooops sorry. I have a teenage daughter so any why question automatically gets that answer. LOL) Why? Starting out with the short walks is good to help build up your feet against blisters and your muscles for the endurance of 60 miles in 3 days. It also helps to build your knowledge of how much water, food and potty breaks you may need per mile. So let's play a guessing game... How many training miles did Wendy walk last year? Any guess? 265 miles. Yep 265 miles! Add on the 6o miles from the 3 Day and I walked 325 miles last year for breast cancer research. I've added a box over there to the right --------------------------> for Darcy and I to keep track of our training miles for 2010. Any guesses as to how many we'll log this year? My guess will be a lot more. Why? (cause I said so! sorry) Well, mainly because this year's walk for me is later in the year. Instead of walking in August we'll be walking in October. That's two more months of training walks for me to do. This is a big commitment, huge really. It takes a lot of time to train to walk for 6o miles in 3 days. Because of our big commitment we're asking you to please donate to our cause; breast cancer research. Show us support as we walk, wear our pink and talk to everyone we can about what we are doing. http://www.the3day.org/goto/mstqsolesisters

  4. Definitely not antsy, but training for Bloomsday starts on the 13th. So I will start there and continue for the 3-day. There are some really nice trails that we train on for Bloomsday.
